Middlebury Library
- Mike contacted the Middlebury Library and secured a permanent change.
- The second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm is the new meeting time.
Meeting Minutes
- Meeting Minutes from the July 9, 2025, 2025 were approved.
Fishing Reports
- Wednesday August 6th overnight temperatures were in the 50s, Mike fished at CR 35 and caught 7 browns swinging a size 14 soft hackle.
- Unfortunately the river temperatures have again gone up.
Treasurer’s Report
- The account balance at the end of July 2025 was $23,158.76
- Mike paid the lawyers handling the LECTU reclassification (back to Public Charity) a retainer fee of $ 1,500. Hopefully we get the desired results and move forward as a TU Chapter.
Summer Workdays
- An email has been sent to the LECTU membership.
- Only one day remains for this summer, Saturday August 16th. LECTU will be moving rocks.
- Participants will meet at Riverbend Park in Middlebury
Middlebury Riverfest
- The Middlebury Riverfest will be held Saturday August 23rd. The time will be 11:00am to 3:00pm
- Tom V submitted the vendor form to the Middlebury Parks Department.
- Ted Larrison, Mike Beachy, and Larry Beachy will represent LECTU at the event.
Mark Sedotti
- The event will be an all-day event on October 11, 2025. The location will be the Elkhart Conservation Club building.
- The cost is $ 25 for LECTU members. Please submit payment to Jim Mauck.
- Morning fly tying session
- Pizza lunch with drinks
- Mark Sedotti presentation at 1:00pm followed by question and answer session.
- Fly casting demonstration and fly casting critiques in the afternoon.
- Seating is limited and an RSVP is required for the lunch which is included in the $25 fee.
Discussion of LECTU Officers
- Mike Beachy will be resigning as President. He will continue to lead the resolution of the LECTU chapter status, but will discontinue new projects and contacts. He will remain in the chapter and would still lead the work day projects.
- Mark Holcomb will become interim President and take over all duties.
- Kris Williams will become the interim Vice President (formally held by Mark).
- Tom Vanderputten will continue as Secretary, and Jim Mauck will continue as Treasury.
- Official elections will be held at the LECTU October meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.
- Mike has not recorded the change in LECTU Officers to TU National. Mike has recommended we wait until the issues regarding the Chapter Designation are resolved.
- In addition to the changes above LECTU will need two additional Board Members.
Non Profit Status Conversion
- Mike and Quentin had a Zoom meeting with Charitable Allies.
- Charitable Allies is a non-profit assisting other non-profit organizations.
- LECTU has paid a $1,500 retainer fee, but Charitable Allies believes LECTU will ultimately pay less.
- Mike will send the necessary forms to Charitable Allies after obtaining information from the IRS.
NEXT MEETING DAY
- The new monthly meeting of LECTU will be the second Tuesday of every month.
- The next meeting is Tuesday September 9th at 7:00pm
- The Library closes precisely at 7:00pm, if you plan on attending please arrive a few minutes before 7:00pm to avoid being locked out of the meeting.
Library Key Pickup
Wayne, and Mike have been listed by the Library being able to secure a building key for our monthly LECTU meetings.
Since the Middlebury Library is open until 7:00pm on Tuesdays, a key pickup is not necessaty
